Please discuss everything with your doctor first.
Hormone Replacement Therapy Doctor Sloan Teeple
LOCATION: Amarillo, TX (12/8/2011)
How many male patients do you estimate that you have treated with testosterone therapy?
2500 so far and diagnose a new patient everyday based on my active screening.
What are your preferred delivery methods for prescription testosterone?
T gels and injections. Testopel is not on Texas insurance plans in an affordable way yet.
Doctors sometimes develop different areas of expertise. Do
you feel that HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) is one of these areas for you and your office?
Definitely
Do you know the foods and drinks that increase erection-boosting
Nitric Oxide? Check out the
Peak Erectile Strength Diet where I show
you how to dramatically and naturally improve your erectile strength.
What do you monitor on a routine basis when a man goes on HRT?
Free and Total Testosterone , H/H, PSA every 6 months for the first year then once yearly. Upon
initial diagnosis I get an FSH/LH and Prolactin as well. Depending
on symptoms I will make sure Estrogen and TSH levels are ok too.
How do you handle men who clearly could benefit from HRT but do not have insurance? What options
are available through your office?
We usually send them to a local compounding pharmacy or start
them on injections which are cheapest. Injections are available in my office.
Do most insurance plans cover standard treatments in your office? (Feel
free to explain some of the exceptions.)
Yes except for Testopel. Texas Medicare has assigned a J code to Testopel
which makes it "experimental" so insurance
doesn't give it the same credence as the other options.
How do you monitor prostate issues and screening for men on HRT?
Or do you let other physicians handle that?
I do PSA tests and digital rectal exams every year on my patients.
How does your office go beyond simple subscribing of PDE5 Inhibitor for
Erectile Dysfunction? Do you have any other treatment strategies for men who are
experiencing a loss of erectile strength?
Almost 90% of my patients respond to ED meds if I get their T levels
in a healthy zone. We offer all of the other ED
tx options including cavernosal injections/pellets and prosthesis surgery.
Are there aspects of your practice or treatment
strategies that you’d like to share that feel may make your practice "stand out from
the crowd?"
Only the fact that I make sure all my ED patients have an optimized T level and Estrogen level too.
Can you give a brief description of your medical certifications and licensing?
MD degree from University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston 2000 and Urology residency training at
LSU-Shreveport Louisiana 2005. Board Certified by American Board of Urology
