Dr. Saya: Danazol To Lower SHBG
« on: April 20, 2017, 02:23:01 pm »
[Moderator split from here: http://www.peaktestosterone.com/forum/index.php?topic=12542.0]

Dr savage has put me on a restart that includes clomid 12.5mg ED/50mg danazol ED.
He is very much coming from the same position as Dr crisler/Shippen, and if needed he will get you on TRT...
With Real world prices too, i think you should give him a call, he will call you back if he's not available.
I hope this helps.

Very interesting inclusion of the danazol. I've used danazol occasionally in HPTA suppressed patients (already on TRT) for the SHBG lowering effect. I've seen danazol suppress HPTA (suppress LH/FSH) in patients who are not on TRT. Perhaps the Clomid stimulation of HPTA is strong enough to overcome the danazol suppression (or at least cancel it out...but then there's really no point in that case). Would be interested in seeing your pre/post treatment labs including LH/FSH/SHBG.

Does danazol do a better job than proviron in lowering SHBG and which is worse for lipids?

To my knowledge proviron is both more effective at lowering SHBG and also worse for lipids, but is not approved in the US and cannot be legally prescribed. Danazol can be legally prescribed (off-label).

When you use Danozol to lower high SHBG, how often do guys feel better?  Have you ever been able to use this as a monotherapy?

If you are on medications or have a medical condition, always check with your doctor first before making any lifestyle changes or taking new supplements. Yes, low T and E.D. are usually medical conditions.  There are potential risk with HRT:  http://www.peaktestosterone.com/testosterone_risks.aspx.

So it's not used with a non-hrt patient because of suppression?

Correct. Danazol generally reduces gonadotropins (LH/FSH) and thus suppresses the HPTA for a non-TRT/HRT male.

In fact, danazol IS USED for non-HRT females in cases of endometriosis, fibrocystic breasts, etc as it suppresses gonadotropins and then ultimately suppresses estradiol production from the ovaries.

Unfortunately not much is going to lower your SHBG especially while on Clomid. The nettle root and vit D3 sometimes help free T and you can also boost your DHEA levels which will often give free T a boost.

Proviron didnt touch my SHBG numerically
Winstrol ( Stanazolol ) did lower it from 55 to 7, you can find thread somwhere around here
danazol.. i dunno numbers

but either way, lowering shbg does not have any effect on me anyway

my shbg is usually 55, right at top of range
