Author Topic: POM and Nitrate Foods and Citrulline Great Improved My Morning Erections  (Read 4199 times)

Great exchange on all of these topics.  Back to the individual labs that we call our own bodies, I have to say the POM juice has had a very noticeable positive effect for me over the last three months.  In reading further on these few threads, I have added more nitrate friendly veggies multiple times per day when possible.  I cant eat a whole bag of arugula like Peak T, but I try.  Lately I have added 1.5g of Citrulline and grape seed extract pill (subbing in for Pycnogenol).  I would agree with the one comment that if your anxiety/stress levels shoot up, or sleep is disturbed, this protocol cant overcome it with immediacy of Viagra/Cialis.  However, on a regular basis, I have noticed a big difference, especially overnight and in the mornings.  FYI, I drink 4-6 oz of POM brand with my breakfast.  I think it tastes great.  I basically substituted the POM for Orange Juice, which has about the same sugar content.  FYI, where I live, you can get a 2 liter (app.) bottle of POM at Sams for around 9 bucks.  Not much more than OJ.  I have tried some other brands of "100% Pomegranate" juice, and they all seem watered down compared to POM. 

Bottom line:  this site is the best out there for guys that care about their health in middle age and are scientifically minded enough to get it.  You have to be willing to try some of these things to see what works.  Thanks to Peak T.

Cholesterol 157 (HDL 51, LDL 94, Trigs 78, LDL-P 850)
Fasting Glucose 90 (down from 97 pre TRT)
A1C:  5.2 (down from 5.7 per TRT)
Homocysteine:  12.4 > 11.0 > 10.2 > 8.9 using B vitamin therapy.  MTHFR positive 

BP  120/78 (using plant based diet and 10 mg Lisinopril ACE Inhibitor)  145/90 prior to meds.

Current protocol:  70 mg Test Cyp IM every 5 days. 
2/15/17 labs:  Total T (peak day): 1169 (250 - 1100 ng/dl).  Free T 198 pg/ML (46-225).  Sensitive E2: 40 High.  Previously 32. PSA 0.2  Hemocrit 44.2. SHBG: 32


Supplements:  Multivitamin, plus additional B12, B6, D, K2, Fish Oil, Magnesium, and Coq10

Evening stack:  3g Cittruline, 100 mg Pycnogenol, 2.5G Kyolic garlic, 1 LEF Endothelial defense   2 mg Cialis EOD, or as needed

I am glad to hear that your good POM experience continues!  Mine does too (with the exception of the hyper-stress time a couple weeks ago).  I have since added vitamin C + garlic and seem to have improved erections even further.  Perhaps the trifecta is POM + vitamin C + garlic.

*Cured my intermittent ED which started at ~35 years old by adding in nitrate-containing foods DAILY (arugula, beets, romaine, spinach) and drinking occasional POM juice. Interestingly, I have seen no changes in cholesterol/LDL/HDL or any other typical blood parameters.

I don't get erections, I just get slight swellings and that's only in the mornings or during sex. I am unable to get erections by thinking about sex. I have been drinking 8oz of POM for about 7 days and I have noticed a slight difference already. Also I seem to be having erotic dreams that coincide with the swellings.
I cant help wondering what it all means?  I don't think its going to cure me but if its helping then why is it helping?
If it helps then shouldn't a doctor be able to tell me whats wrong?  or is it just not that simple?
52 years old. ED since early twenties.

The problem is that pomegranate juice does so many things for you that it's tough to say which part is making the most difference for you.  But the bottom line is that it is helping your endothelium, which will help you produce more nitric oxide and have less arterial stiffness.  Here are some fo the ways Pomegranate Juice helps:

I noticed a dramatic improvement after a week of daily 8oz use.  My friend noticed the improvement after a month of daily 8oz use.  So it depends on the person.  I suspect if POM is starting to work for you, then part of the problem you face is nitric oxide.  That suggests Viagra/Cialis would probably also work (do they?).  That also means that nitrate foods (arugula, romaine salads) would probably help you.  L-citrulline also works through a different nitric oxide pathway.  Trying each of these things makes sense.

I don't get erections when thinking about sex either.  I don't get them when looking at sexy pictures.  I still get a brain endorphin reaction to those things (I love checking out women) but there is a disconnect between brain and genitals.  Perhaps that is because I may be low in acetylcholine, which is the neurotransmitter responsible for communicating from brain to genitals.  I only get erections through contact (direct or indirect via things like kissing my gf or perhaps being close enough to smell her pheromones).  Even though my weekly sex numbers are better than ever, my libido still doesn't match my erection ability.

The acetylcholine thing I am still researching, in hopes of boosting my libido to match my erection ability.

Yes Cialis and Viagra do work but they make me so sick I cant take them

I didn't always take It because of the side effects. I knew I would suffer the next day. I also tried the lower dosage but it didn't work as well and the side effects were still bad. I probably have only ever taken Viagra and Cialis around 6 or 7 times each over about 25years.
The last time was a couple of years ago and still the same effects

I think at the time there were 2 different dosages and I was taking the max. I only took it before sex and when I could afford it.
I didn't always take It because of the side effects. I knew I would suffer the next day. I also tried the lower dosage but it didn't work as well and the side effects were still bad. I probably have only ever taken Viagra and Cialis around 6 or 7 times each over about 25years.
The last time was a couple of years ago and still the same effects
