Title: Portion Control Tip
Post by: Sam on January 28, 2013, 12:44:03 am
Hey guys,   portion control and eating right is always a challenge when trying to lose weight, something I am sure most of you are struggling with.   I was able to lose 25 lbs in the past 6months through diet and exercise and just wanted to share a tip with you that has helped me.   Basically I started out buying Healthy Choice Café Steamers at Walmart for $2.50.   I always got the lower calorie ones.  I found them to be convenient and a good step in the right direction from where I was.

So what's the tip?   Don't through out the plastic bowls they come in.  I have about 10 of them in my cupboard and now I make my own meals for the week in bulk and portion them out in these bowls to freeze before vacuum sealing them for storage.  The bowls are flexible enough that once frozen the food pops right out and can be easily vacuum packed.

I now have like 4 different meals in my freezer so variety isn't an issue either.

Cheers,

Man, I wish I'd do that:  prepare in bulk and even store some of it.  For me one of the keys would be how fast I could prepare the meals.  Anyway, impressive!  I could eat about 100 X better tasting food if I did this...

Maybe I will post some recipes here when I have the time.   I'm not talking bland chicken, white rice and broccoli either those days are long gone:-)

I usually just prepare the protein, vegtables, sauce and spices in the bowl and then I cook Black or brown rice or quinoa in the rice cooker and store it for the week in containers.   For lunch or dinner I'll mix up the grain with different meals to increase variety.
