Samson brought up a great subject:  the relation of testosterone to cortisol reactivity as a factor in psychopathology.  You'll have to read the above study to see the details but is this:

"Increased testosterone to cortisol ratio in psychopathy"

There are more and more studies coming out showing that abusive and toxic home environments lead to damaged HPA axis and damaged brains - a potentially deadly situation in the case of males.
