I feel terrible still after trt!
« on: February 08, 2012, 06:34:19 pm »
I 35 years old. I just started trt. My test levels 280ng. Immediately doc put me on 2cc of 400mg of test cyp once a month. I dont have blood results. I just know that i really start feeling terrible after about 2 and a half weeks. I know this is vague info. But does this sound normal? Feel so down and out. Any help or opinions will be greatly appreciated.

No, it doesn't sound normal.  I get comments almost always of either feeling neutral or better.

Let me make sure I understood right:  you doctor gave you a MONTHLY injection of cypionate and then you had no other injections for 2.5 weeks at which point you started feeling horrible?

Well, I have never heard of anyone waiting for a month to get another injection!  So I would definitely ask your doctor about that.  Two weeks is common and sometime three weeks.  But I have never heard of a month.

By the way, many of the anti-aging docs are going to much more frequent injections of smaller amounts so that your testosterone levels stay relatively flat.  The typical pattern with injections is that you start out too high and then at the end of the injection period you are actually low in testosterone.  Many guys can notice the difference in how they feel at the end of the two or three weeks.

I believe Cypionate has a half life of around 8-12 days, so your body will have cleared out most of it after a couple of weeks.  And, if that is correct, your last two weeks will be just you and your Leydig cells that have just been overstimulated with exogenous testosterone.

And this might explain why you felt so lousy at 2.5 weeks.   You may have had very little testosterone.

The bottom line is that you need to talk to your doc about the four weeks, get tested for T and find out what he/she is thinking.  And, if you think of it, let us know what happens...

I really do appreciate you takin time to reply. Your input is valuable. I have always felt this way and as a teen depressed. Depressed throughout my life and except for a short period a few years back. I was illegally using steroids but not abusing in large quantities. I kno sounds crazy but i felt so great after a 1cc shot i stayed in that range. Since i have had a life change and remarried and live on the rite side of the law. Sorry to ramble. Thanks!

Hope it helped, but I'm not sure I totally understand.  Are you saying that you might have shut off your T when you were younger and you feel like that led to depression, etc.?  If so, that's possible, but realize that depression can lead to low T and low T can lead to (or make worse) depression, so it's kind of a chicken/egg thing.

Let me try to clarify. I have always felt crappy. Anxious etc. The men in my family are usually tall andmuscular or short and stocky but solid. I have always been 5'9, soft medium built. Even after years of trying to exercise and eating a decent diet. Considered myself a "hard gainer" as all my workout partners passed me by. I have always exhibited low t symptoms. Thought i was too young until i investigated. That was when i remembered that when i used steroids illegally i felt great. Much like i do now after a couple days after a shot. Then i crash hard and it sucks.

Gotcha.  Well, talk to your physician about everything.  He should be able to explain to you in detail what he is doing and why.  If you have doubts, get a second opinion.  With HRT there is a wide variety of expertise and opinion out there, so you have to be proactive and find out the important details.

Well i went in and saw the doc today. Gonna lower the dosage and increase the frequency. The nurse practitioner seems to be more up to speed then the doc. And incredibly cute. Sorry, rambling again. But anyway, things are looking up. This site is great. Extremely informative. Great job!

Great.  Try to to get them to test you pretty regularly for all the standard stuff (prostate, blood cell, etc.) as well as T levels.  Your attitude should always be, "Prove it!"
