Venous leakage then High testosterone
« on: February 15, 2012, 02:23:47 pm »
I am 28 and very healthy with one exception. I mean I am thin, exercise some and take no drugs at all.  However for the past two or three years I began to have difficulty maintaining my erections and in the last year is when it got really bad. To make a long story short I found out through a doppler ultrasound that I had venous leakage.  Then I started taking Viagra and it helped a lot at first but then it just stopped working. After doing some reading I found I had typical venous leakage symptoms such as losing my erections easily.  Fortunately I had my testosterone checked and it has ranged between 280 and 400.

This was a bad time in my life.  I rarely had erections in the morning.   All doctors said im in the normal range and its all in my head.  I finally talked one into giving me testosterone and the results were great although it took two months.  After two months my erections were almost completely back to normal.  Sounds good right?  The problem is that my doctor check my testosterone and it was 1174 and said that we over did it.

So now I don't know what to do.  All of this had already cost me a relationship due to the difficulties I was having in the bedroom.  I don't want to keep taking Viagra and it really didn't work anyway.  am I really too high?  What do you think?

Sorry to hear about the troubles.  Of course, I can't tell you whether or not to stay on HRT, as that is a medical decision.  But I can tell you that I have received many stories of men who have had venous leakage reversed from testosterone therapy, especially if the levels are raised high enough.  Furthermore, the studies show the same thing and so does your own experience.  This is because the testosterone can actually heal and rebuilt the tissues within the penis.  However, there are fertility and many other decisions that  you have to make with your physician though.

Personally, I agree with your doc that T in the 1100's is too high.  One thing to keep in mind:  testosterone therapy often leads to a higher percentage of free testosterone than is normal.  And at those levels you can start to aromatize.

If you are on medications or have a medical condition, always check with your doctor first before making any lifestyle changes or taking new supplements.  And low testosterone is a medical condition.

800 ng/dl is a healthy level to strive for, but check with your doc.  Sounds like he's on top of things.
