Lots of expiriments talk about mice and fat mice..
how do they get mice morbidly obese?
they feed them fast food, soda and processed foods, right? 
no,they feed the mice MSG

so when Peak warns you of the dangers of MSG to your sex life, MSG is harmless and just causes allergies in overly sensitive individuals.  A little sneezing and blowing is the least of your worrries if you consume monosodium glutamate (MSG).  Glutamate is one of the body's neurotransmitters and MSG consumed in food has a back door to your gonads:  the hypothalamus.  Read about The Grossly Misunderstood Dangers of Excitoxins.

"MSG treated" mice and rats. What stood out was not that researchers were researching monosodium glutamate (MSG), but that they injected or fed lab animals MSG to make them fat. That's how they do it.

Great post.  Guys, this is actually quite true.  Here are just a few examples:

Now, in the latter study, here is the amount:

"Wistar rats were injected 5 times, every other day, with 4 g of MSG/kg b.w. or with hyperosmotic saline (controls), within the first 10 days of life, and were studied at the age of 30 days."

Now I do have to point out that that is a very high dosage.  But great post again...

Goodness gracious those are high doses. I love the rat studies because they always take it to the most extreme level possible. When I use hondashi (the basic building block of all Japanese cooking) it's like a pinch. Way less than a gram I bet.

Goodness gracious those are high doses. I love the rat studies because they always take it to the most extreme level possible. When I use hondashi (the basic building block of all Japanese cooking) it's like a pinch. Way less than a gram I bet.

Don't know if hondashi has free glutamine in it, but a pinch isn't likely to hurt an adult male from what I have read.  Remember:  guys consuming (the standard) wheys, diet cokes, packaged soups, etc. are getting multigrams of the stuff more than likely...

I'm sure the dosages are large in rats because why risk the  rat not getting fat.  I just do my best to avoid MSG, if you want to add some, that's your call.

I'm sure the dosages are large in rats because why risk the  rat not getting fat.  I just do my best to avoid MSG, if you want to add some, that's your call.
Well, for example, the Biochem Whey that I sometimes use is 99% good, 1% bad.  Some free glutamine is inevitable and it's even in some cheeses, such as Parmesan, at more-than-minute doses.  Personally, I think the body can stand small amounts without any trouble.  But I can't see any reason to consume it as an additive - that's just a dangerous and unncessary usage if you ask me.
