My Hematocrit Is High After Switching From TRT to Clomid?!
« on: November 07, 2017, 12:38:21 pm »
I recently stopped topical testosterone and wanted to see how I would fare on 25mg per day of clomid. I had labs pulled after 6-8 days on clomid and my total t was just over 300ng and free t 5.2ng. I received the results from the CBC test this morning and I'm very alarmed with the results. My hematocrit is 51.5% and hemoglobin 17.4 on a scale of 13.7-17.3, also RBC is 5.9 on a scale 4.37-5.34. I don't understand how this is possible, even when I was on 120mg per week cypionate my hematocrit was 47-48% and hemoglobin normally in the 16 range. Any thoughts or advise appreciated. Clomid and tongkat Ali are the only things I am taking.

Mine went up significantly (I believe anyway) just from diet alone, i.e. eating a lot of iron rich plant foods.  Of course, some animal foods have tons of iron as well.

It was a 7:30am draw, but I had already had breakfast along with coffee and some water prior to labs. I can't think of any dietary changes I've made, but I forgot to put in the original post I also started 10mg daily dhea which I take in the morning with my other supplements. We're going to do another CBC in a couple weeks to see if there's a change. I asked my doctor about donating or taking aspirin and he says he won't be too concerned unless it hits 55%, since I'm having no symptoms. Typically in the past whenever ceasing testosterone, my hematocrit levels drop rather swiftly. Not sure what to make of it, I guess time will tell.

This isn't something that changes from one meal I don't believe.

It seems fairly unlikely that this is a Clomid issue, given that you had only been on it for 6-8 days.  I could be wrong of course, but I don't think your blood levels would respond that quickly and to that degree.
Age: 55, Ht: 5'08", Wt: 155 lbs
Protocol: 25 mg T Cyp + 25 IU HCG M,W,F + 2 clicks T Cream + 15mg DHEA + 15mg Pregnenalone daily.
12/2018 test results: TT: 1054 ng/dL (264-916), FT: 17.2 pg/mL (7.2-24), E2: 21.6 pg/mL sensitive (8.0-35.0)

Yeah, it takes awhile for red blood cell production to ramp up.  It's going from bone to blood...

What's your testosterone?

It's wasnt that high, only 478, but I'd run out of clomid, so hadn't taken it in about 2 weeks, was travelling a lot but I'm guessing it's back up now.

Makes sense:  I know of a testosterone EPO link which is what elevarea hematocrit.  I dont know of anything uniquely linked to clomid and, furthermore, its almost always guys on injections that struggle with high hematocrit from what I remember
