Subcutaneous Injections
« on: May 03, 2018, 01:57:59 pm »
Guys I will see the doctor in 2 weeks or so. I may do the injections because it is cheaper for one. What I want to know is can I use a Diabetic needle to inject vs a big needle? Do you need to hit the muscle in order to get in the system?

Yes, the little insulin syringes (29-31 gauge needles, 5/16 to 1/2 inches long) work great if you aren't injecting a lot at one time. The point of subQ is to avoid the underlying tissue, including muscle. So you can inject in fat pads, such as the love handles, or just beneath the skin in the quads, or numerous other places.

Age: 60, Ht: 5'10", Wt: 154 lbs

Approximate levels (peak): TT: 700 ng/dL, E2: 30 pg/mL, DHEA-S: 300 ug/dL, SHBG: 30 nMol/L

How about 1/4? Man looking at those needles I cringe.

I was about to say I hadn't seen any that short, but I took a quick look and see they do make 1/4" (Sure Comfort), as well as 15/64" (BD brand), 31G needles. These would work fine. Also, there's no rule that says you have to insert the needle all the way; it doesn't take much depth to be subcutaneous. And you can insert the needle at a pretty shallow angle to avoid going deep.

Thank you, I will consider that once I talk to the doctor. I may continue with the cream or even start Androgel. If I continue with the cream I will use this time Empower only because I hate the white powder that the cream leaves behind when it dries from my local pharmacy.

That's too long I think especially if there is no need to go in deep.
