what to choose bcaa or whey protein
« on: June 17, 2018, 08:06:06 pm »
Hello guys,

me and my sister recently decided to take supplements, to be more precise we are interested in bcaa or whey protein. But we have a very little knowledge on this area, so we have no other option the internet. As a result we had found an article bcaa vs whey protein [edited by moderator] which gives some explanations.
Anyone here who had experience with these both suplements? Can you share your own experience with us please?

They both serve a purpose but I guess it is going to be based on what you are trying to achieve. What are your goals?

Do not give your money to predatory supplement companies.  Just eat real food, you will feel better anyways.

Actually, BCAA is a must, but without definite purpose, it is needless to give any advice.

If you are not getting enough protein, it is okay to supplement with whey.  BCAA's on the other hand are totally useless.  Search "BCAA's useless" on google and you will find plenty of reasons why it is not needed.

WHen I've asked about BCAA I'm generally told that if you need more BCAA you should use an additional scoop of whey...

Depends on your goals. These days protein shakes/powders already have a good amount of bcaa in them. A lot of proteins and other supplements are filled with extra unnecessary fillers. If you are trying the put muscle size on I would recommend trying to eat real food instead of a shakes. Adding in shakes on top of your daily diet plan is good. But like I said it depends on what your goals are. I usually have a shake as a snack, and avoid bcaa. Iíve tried bcaa and found it to do nothing except make me gassy.

I have severe fatigue issues related to autoimmune disease and a previous illness. Looks to be mitochondrial in nature, as I run out of energy (at the gym, for example) in minutes.

What seems to help is a well rounded Amino Energy (contains a large variety of AA's) drink mix, along with Whey Isolate. Vitamins, and in particular, B12, calcium and D3.

Some people really do will with supplemental AA's, including BCAA's. I'm among them.

Height 5' 10"
180mg NPthyroid (natural desiccated pigs thyroid)

Prednisone 10mg/day (no ACTH, dangerously low cortisol)

10% compounded creme. T=725, which feels just right.

While you're repping out Amino Energy you noticeably leave out the 160mg of Caffeine per serving.

The only reasons that I have found to use protein powders and supp's like bcaa's is convenience.

Or maybe to save a few calories.

I save the supp's for when I cannot get a good meal in or when it's hot and I just can't stand the thought of eating lunch.

I also think many are consuming way to many grams of protein, the old 1 to 2 grams per pound of body weight is just a waste. My research and experience has me believing that a gram of protein per pound of lean body weight is probably more than enough for the average joe that is hitting the gym 4 to 5 days a week for an 1 to 1.5 hr long session. At least I haven't had any problems with recovery or building muscle at these protein levels.

Caffeine does nothing for me. 5 hour energy, No Doze pills, coffee, tea, etc. Absolutely nothing. When I'm fatigued, I can drink as few or many cups of coffee as I can stand and still fail, hard.
