Hi,

can anybody tell me if they seen actual test results of somebody with low T (150 -290) that actually increased those numbers (450-550 range) naturally by exercise and diet changes?  I've searched but haven't found anything. The reason I'm asking is because I'm looking for a little motivation for myself to change my results naturally instead of taking Androgel.

Thanks,

John

I don't think this is exactly what you're asking, but the biggest changes are probably losing weight and correcting apnea.  Those seem to be in the 25-50 and 25-35% range based on the studies.

Well, there's another forum poster here who feels the same way.  Most guys just can't wait to get on it cuzz they are so miserable.  Can I ask what your concern is?  (Low T can make you super-anxious!)

NOTE:  Keep the gel out of contact with any females or children.  Be sure to either cover the treated area with clothing or wash off thoroughly.

Hi PeakT,

I guess I'm hypersensitive to new medications and subconsciously think something might go wrong to cause me to have a  panic attack.  Needless to say, I tend to get very anxious when I try new meds which can kind of feed on itself if I notice any side effects. It's been awhile since I had a full panic attack but it's always in the back of my mind.

I'm slowly upping my dose. Not sure if that is the best thing to do. Currently 1 pump of 1.62% androgel and Dr. recommended 2 pumps. What's your opinion on this? Have you heard of anybody else doing this?

Again, I appreciate all the feedback.

John

Hey, I've never had a panic attack, so do what you have to do.

I've never heard of anyone have any negative mental affects from HRT, although anything is possible I suppose.  You're almost there to the 2 pumps any way!

If you don't go to 2 pumps, then you definitely want to inform your doc imo.  But I have the impression that you're head to 2 pumps but are just gradually getting there...

I have been taking Androgel for the past four months by a 5.0  packet and my testosterone level is 3 and should be 6 according to my endoc doctor. The 5.0 is not increasing my level so the doctor has increase the dosage to a 7.5 packet. I rub it on my stomach and shoulders.

I am 67 and very active, however, lately I get very exhausted and think the lower testosterone is my problem and has finally caught up with me.. I have been on Klonopin for years because of anxiety and reading your bogg makes me think that I have had low testosterone from years and it was never picked up by my  doctors over the years. Years ago before Klonopin I had panic attacks.

Do you have any advice on varicocele surgery? My urologist has recommended this surgery and my primary doctor and endo doctor knows nothing about this surgery and is no help. Has anyone had this surgery to increase their testosterone level?

Enjoy your bogg and would like to hear what you have to say about my low T.

DB

DB:  Can you send your actual testosterone levels with units?  Not sure what you mean by the 3 and the 6.

There is a study - let me know if you can't find it on my site using the Search - that shows varicocele surgery raised testosterone.  However, many urologists say that it does not help.

If it doesn't seem to help, is there any point in getting varicocele fixed?

I have it on both sides. The nuts are small - about 4cm long testicle on left 4.5cm long testicle on right. The testicles seem small to me, are often soft, and I think they are smaller and less firm than they were when I was younger. I am 30 now.

Embolization seems like a waste of time to me as it may not work. Snipping surgery, unless its the microsurgery approach, is a bit risky in my view.

Actually, the study says that varicocele surgery will, on average, raise T a bit.  Some urologists state otherwise though, but I'm just letting you know what the study says.
