How I Got My Morning Erections Back

EH:
Have you tried Grape Seed Extract in the place of Pycnogenol?  They have the same active ingredients, but Grape Seed Extract is less expensive.  I have never used Pycnogenol but I have used Grape Seed Extract off and on for years.  Unfortunately, I have not done any controlled experiments with it and ED effects.

Yes, they have kind of the same class of phytochemicals, but of course Pycnogenol is pine bark extract.  Pycnogenol is pretty good at ramping up NO for many men and I have not seen anyone report the same with Grape Seed Extract.  (Combine it with a little Citrulline - after talking to your doc - for synergistic effects.)

Roger_Dalton:
Pycnogenol can lowers one's dopamine levels which ostensibly would mean a less pleasurable climax or tactile sensitivity.

Perhaps supplementing with Tyrosine would be a good counter-balance to this?

You're probably right but not necessarily.  It may just modulate the catecholamines (dopamine and noradrenaline) rather than carte blanche lower them in all individuals.  If so, this is not uncommon.  An example of this is testosterone dampening overreaction of the adrenals to ACTH.  See study #3 here for an example:

So it may be that it helps those who have an issue here.

But great post and this is yet another example as to how herbs are 1) suprisingly powerful and 2) can effect each man individually.

Btw, I am going to post this as a caution on my Pycnogenol pages sometime soon.
