Prostate Milking
« on: May 31, 2012, 02:43:01 pm »
This is relevant to this forum as prostate issues can negatively impact erectile function.  I suffer periodically from prostatitis and am currently on Cipro for the next 30 days.  I've read about self draining of the protate gland to remove any clogged or dormant prostate fluids.  Kind of went there yesterday based on what I read and don't think that I got it right.  Is it worth the effort?  Figured I'd throw it out to you guys on this forum.

You're opviously talking about via multi-ejaculation, right?  You can get abcesses which require treatment, but from what you wrote, that's not what you meant, correct?

If you're talking about ejaculation, then you have to realize that helps some men and others the opposite:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2374945/
"Current treatment options in the management of chronic prostatitis"

Notice what they write here:

"The issue of ejaculation is controversial, as some men report exacerbation of symptoms (Shoskes et al 2004) whereas other report reduction (Yavascaoglu et al 1999) with regular ejaculation. "

Anecdotally, some men say that they feel a burning sensation "build up" and, if they ejaculated regularly, it gets rid of this sensation and relieves symptoms.  But I don't think there's a simple formula:  the prostate is actually very complex and it's no wonder that it keeps urologist busy.

Btw, the above is an interesting journal article.  Bee pollen and quercetin has helped some men.  (I've wanted to do a page on it but just haven't had time.)

I was referring to massage of the prostate to stimulate release of prostatic fluids through the urethra.  It would be an ejaculation based on directly massaging the prostate gland to release the bad stuff.  Not sure if all ejaculations are created equal and that if this would be similar to a normal ejaculation.  thanks.

I average between three and five normal ejaculations per week but prostatic meassage aims at the stuff that is stuck on your gland which causes the infection.

Gotcha.  I know you're looking for more anecdotal feedback, but here's some interesting articles from the literature.

Apparently, at one time it was the most popular treatment:

but feel into disuse a few decades ago.

It now seem to be making a comeback with a certain type of prostatitis patient:

LowerT:

Sorry to do some purging, but I have some concerns.  Read this link on Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prostate_massage

"Vigorous prostate massage has been documented with consequences that are health- and life-threatening: periprostatic hemorrhage,[5] cellulitis, Fournier's gangrene,[6] septicaemia, possible disturbance and metastasis of prostate cancer to other parts of the body, and hemorrhoidal flare-up.[7]."

Do you have anything from a more authority web site on how to do it safely?  I don't have any doubt that it may help based on the one journal article I sent you, but I'd like to know if you've found anything that shows the right/wrong way to do it?

It kind of makes sense that you've got to be careful massaging internal organs as they weren't really made for that necessarily, eh?

I'll check into more authoritative sites.  Personally, I wouldn't have my uro do that to me unless absolutely necessary.  It would be a real stretch to have my spouse apply this technique.  Just wouldn't happen.  So, it would be a highly personal endeavor to see if it helps to clean and shrink the gland.  I'm just not accustomed to doing that sort of thing.

Yeah, and I wasn't necessarily suggesting that.  I was just hoping for some guidelines.  All you have to do is say the word cellulitis - I've had it before - and it strikes fear deep within.

Let us know what you find out.
