I'm done with my experiment with fat
« on: December 13, 2013, 01:37:05 am »
I'm done with my experiment.

I went from eating every 12 hours(twice a day, ~7am+coffee, ~7pm) of a shake of: broccoli(1lbs) eggwhites, POM juice, berries, cacao some Omega-3s herbs(cumurin, peppers, tumeric,  Ceylon Cinnamon.
At night, I'd have a snack of baby carrots/onions/cucumbur+niacin+ baby aspirn.

I was doing fine with this eating style and I was losing weight.

but after 8 weeks of it, I wanted to compare my life, how great i felt and how my boners were going on, with a more "American" style of eating.

So I started eating only one shake and then I'd have a meal at night of high fat, sonic(meat!) or pizzas(cheese/dairy) or some potato chips+cookies.

What a difference,.
My boners headed south, my mental fog rolled in, my energy level dropped unless I was hyped up on sugar...
I was going from one sugar high to the next.

Bottom line:
Back to the low fat, plant diet.

I had a week of fast food and shitty food, granted some veggies/fruit
but today I had a bag of chips, hot pocket and some oreos(half a bag of minis, I got sick of them and threw half away)
then I broke out the BEST tasting meal I've had in a week
a to-go salad bar of broccoli,  red/green peppers, radishes,  cumber....it was SO great!
crunchy and yummy

over the next few days I'll be cleaning my bowls...in this week, i seemed to have accumulated a few zits...hmmm

bzarfas,

excellent experiment, thanks for sharing.  question: what was your reasoning for eating twice a day (every twelve hours) versus, 3,6, or 1 time per day?

I'm currently trying the "warrior diet" pushed by Ori Hofmekler which in a nutshell consists of eating one big meal per day (most likely in the evening) with smaller snack type meals of fresh fruits/veggies & easy to digest protein (yogurt, shakes, etc.), no complex carbs during the undereating daytime.

What you're doing sounds similar to Ori's diet, so just curious how you arrived at it.

I don't know what the warrior diet is. I posted this and this sums why I eat every 12 hours, I SHOULD eat 1x/24 hours(at only 7pm) but I havent done that this week because I figured a huge meal of junk food would spike my blood sugar off the chart.

I try to do that at least 2-3x a week, not eating and then eating a big meal once a day, it's supposed to have benifets.

Recently, I watched a show called Eat, Fast and Live Longer with michael-mosley
http://www.pbs.org/program/michael-mosley/

I watched this show on TV and I think it fits into this site,
This site is about keeping  Mens Health; most noteably our ability to have erections/sex.,

It seems that as we get older, we have to start fighting against nature and mankind to stay healthy,
Nature wants us to get to the reproduction age, have offspring, then it doesnt matter what happens to us.
Mankind has done so much to our environment that affects our health, most notably on this site, our Food. Man kind has laced our food with additives which make food into an even more powerful drug that causes us to overeat.  Not to mention all the other stuff in the enviroment, as peak mentions here
http://www.peaktestosterone.com/Hdr_Pesticides_Toxins

I watched this eat/fast/eat show to find an ideal way to eat and not cause damage to myself.

The message seem clear.
Get down to a good BMI/bodyfat, then do a 5/2 diet
5 days of eating normally, about 2000 calories or whatever you figured out your diet is.
then 2 days of

some of the benifets(I am not sure what how true any of this is, its just what the show says)

Fast/dieting helps lower IGF-1
This is a marker for cancers, and a normal american has a level ~200ng/mol, and the fast./dieting brought it down to ~100

Help lower fasting glucose levels
-which is noted on this site, that high glucose/sugar is bad for the body

The show says, you have to eat low protein(with no definition of what a low protein is, or what they protein is composed of)

I liked the review of the Book  that came out that is based on this "documentary"
http://www.amazon.com/review/R30YI8D3RGZOFK/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R30YI8D3RGZOFK

but I am back at my intital question

"once I get to a body weight/BMI/bodyfat that I want to be at, what is the best way to stay at that weight.
THe "Eat.fast" method seems to be good, because it stimulates my body by making it think I'm starving, so the body recacts  in a healthy way.
This will help the problem I have  when I reach a health weight, where I have no goals, watching the scale fall is a great way to stay motivated.  so not being able to eat a lot 2 days a week should help me stay on target

more important than the timing of when I eat is the content of when I eat.,
I was eating high fat and crap food, but along with fasting periods,...I still felt like crap though,  the fat and the kind of food I eat makes a difference
the 5 minutes I have to spend in a drive thru is faster than the hour it takes to go to the store, buy basic ingredients, thencome home and make a meal out of eggwhites, fruit, veggies....but HOW i feel is so different.,
I think that's because of the sugar and the fat and whatever else they put into fast food(additives)

I've been eating like crap the last week, fast food, meat, processed food etc
Which is very different than what I usually eat.
I was tested and the iron in my blood is high.
too high iron is bad for you, from what I understand, because it makes more free radicals

Iron gradually builds up in certain cells and tissues over the course of the human life span. Too much iron accelerates mitochondrial decay and inflicts system-wide free radical damage to healthy tissues.1,2 Age-related iron overload is a known contributor to multiple degenerative diseases, including liver fibrosis, heart attack, and cancer.3-8
http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2012/mar2012_Excess-Iron-Brain-Degeneration_01.htm

and lots of sites talk about iron being too high causes problems; heart attacks/stroke/free radical production.

but on the other hand, plant based foods help to rid the body of iron.
you might think you can get iron from plants, and you can, but very little.  The reason is iron found in plant foods is generally referred to as "non-heme" iron. Non-heme iron has a much lower average absorption percentage between 3-8%

This food form of iron is called heme iron. On average, heme iron is about 23% bioavailable. "Bioavailable" in this situation means that the iron can successfully make its way from the food into our bloodstream. This 23% number for heme iron, however, is only an average.

The best way to reduce iron in your body is by giving blood.
You lose about 220-250 mg of iron when you donate a unit of blood.

Heavy metals in the human body contribute to serious health problems. Toxic heavy metals such as mercury, cadmium, lead, uranium and aluminum may enter the human body through food, water, air, or absorption through the skin. In today's world, it is difficult to avoid exposure to any one or more of these metals. Natural News has reported extensively on this subject. It is, however; useful to be reminded of the foods that actually help to remove toxins from the body.

Basically, any plants help your body get rid of heavy metals, like iron.
So eat more veggies
