Can Clomid Be Used Intermittently?
« on: May 11, 2014, 04:56:13 pm »
 Another question about clomid that I have is if its recommended to take a small dose every few months for a few weeks type of thing... I have been on T now for about 5 months and when I asked my doc about clomid he said I don't need that and no one on TRT really needs it... my test have shown my T is up a bit but not mutch, I do feel better but should I just get clomid on my own and supplement my TRT with it in short cycles??
Age 40
weight :190lbs
height: 5'9"
TRT protocol :
 2016= 25mg EOD subQ
 2015= 75mg /wk IM (this was no good)
 2014= 200mg / 2 wks IM (but I split that into 100mg /wk)

You mean your doc says that no one needs TRT?  That is utter foolishness if that is what he meant.  First of all, a significant percentage of men have secondary medical conditions such as osteoporosis and anemia that spring out of low testosterone.  And there are a 100 other reasons to take HRT for a guy that is hypogonadal as well, but that's the subject of another thread.

Clomid can lose it's efficacy, but, if that's the case, then you probably need to consider another option such as HCG Monotherapy rather than cycling it imo.

What do you mean your testosterone is up a "little bit"?  Can you post your numbers?  Also, can you post your dosage and frequency on the Clomid?

 Hi PeakT,
so my doc has me on 200mg every 2wks ( but I take 100 every week ) I don't have my T #'s with me right now but 5 months ago they were 8.1 ( sorry not sure the conversion) and now sit at 12.2  there norm range is 8.5-24.9 I believe. My doc says I should only need T shots every 2 weeks for a few months then we can go to 200mg every 4-6 weeks then every 2-3 months. When I told him I would like a low dose each week to keep a steady level he asked if I was trying to be a body builder.. he thinks 100mg a week is too much and no one needs to add clomid to their protocol.. He thinks because I am only 39 that I shouldn't be on TRT.. he hasn't seen anyone under 50 that really needs it.. Yes I am looking for a better doc and the I have no endro's in my area. I am tempted to just buy my T from other sources and just do my own thing but in order for my to monitor my lab's I need a doctor to order them.. no private clinics here that will do labs with out a docs request

I wish being a bodybuilder was that easy lol.

To answer your question, clomid will have no effect if you're on shots because your HPTA is still being suppressed by the extra testosterone. It wouldn't work. What you're thinking of is cycles, like bodybuilders do but you have to quit the shots and wait 2 weeks or so for the testosterone to leave your body for the clomid to work. That's unnecessary strain if you aren't taking more than normal levels of testosterone because you could just stay at normal levels and never have an issue. Bodybuilders have to cycle in order to deal with the side effects or else they'd get really screwed up like liver damage, heart damage, baldness, anxiety etc.

 Thanks JackAndy,  I really don't want to take more things than I have to.. I just see some guys use both. I have had no signs of any side affects with 100 mg/wk  of T over the past 5months other than the boys are a bit smaller. I think I would be happy with this dose as I have seen the benefits and don't want to go backwards with taking shots every few months.

Oh, I get it.  See JackAndy's response below.

So we've discussed the every 2 and 3 week protocols, right?  Those are horrible.  The half life of cypionate and enanthate are way too long and don't forget about the fact that your estradiol is through the roof during some of the two weeks.  But I think we've discussed that before.

I have thought about stopping the cream and running clomid for a couple of months and just see if it sticks... If I run clomid will the lose dose Cialis still work as good as it does now on the cream??
