I've been on TRT since 4/29/14 and it's been a bumpy road for me. I started by doing weekly subQ injections and I bloated terribly. One thing I discovered is that SubQ injections are absorbed more quickly by the body. Using a strength of 200 mg per mL, injecting 0.5 cc/mL (100 mg) all in one subQ shot once per week caused my testosterone and estrogen to skyrocket (which I believed caused the bloat). I began to suspect that I hyper-metabolize testosterone.

So, I went to 0.1 cc/mL (20 mg) every other day. More frequent, smaller doses of testosterone eliminated all bloating for me. However, not fulling realizing the implications of being a possible hypermetabolizer, I went in for my 6/17/14 blood test (see signature) on my off-injection day. In hindsight, this was a mistake. Due to hyper-metabolization of testosterone, my levels likely swung high on injection days and swung much lower on off days. My doctor said my levels could be higher and suggested I double my dose.

I increased my dose and began injecting 0.1 cc/mL (20 mg) daily, instead of EOD (due to my hypermetabolizer suspicions). I did not feel well doing this, so I cut back. About three weeks before my 9/10/14 test, I forced myself to resume the 0.1 mg/mL (20 mg) daily dose, so I could measure my levels at that dose. I felt terrible, but pushed through and, as you can see from my signature, my 9/10/14 results were off the charts. My doc told me to reduce my dose significantly.

I settled in on 0.07 cc/mL (14 mg) daily of 200 mg/mL SubQ T-Enanthate. As you can see from my 10/22/14 results, this dose works pretty well for me. Again, I get zero bloat injecting daily (or even EOD). Although somewhat of a hassle, injecting daily works best for me because my testosterone levels are much more stable.

I've tried all different quantities of anastrozole and have settled on 0.08 mg (compounded) per capsule. I take one capsule per day (at the time of injection). Compounding improves accuracy (splitting pills is very inaccurate). My blood pressure is very sensitive to anastrozole, and the amount I currently take hits the sweet spot, by allowing my testosterone to stay in the 800s, while keeping my Estradiol around the coveted 23. Also, my erections are best at this dose. Unfortunately, they're still not nearly as good as when I was a teenager. However, that may be due to my elevated blood pressure (145/70 untreated). Which may be related to a mild case of Peripheral Vascular Disease (http://goo.gl/Bk8MKI). PVD commonly causes erectile disfunction.

Tips I've found useful:
  • Do sub-Q injections daily (or at least EOD) with divided doses
  • Before switching from the drawing needle to the injecting needle, pull the plunger back just enough to draw the testosterone out of the drawing needle. Otherwise your dose will not be accurate, and will be less than what you originally drew from the vial.
  • ModoMed sells inexpensive needles and syringes (shipping and delivery times are reasonable). I use 20 gauge for drawing and 25 gauge (1") for injecting (sub-Q). I use 1 cc/mL syringes, but I wish I could find 0.5 cc/mL syringes.
  • I use T Enanthate instead of Cypionate because Enanthate is sesame oil based and Cypionate is cotton seed oil based. Unlike sesame plants, cotton plants are not considered a food crop. As a result, they are often treated with much more toxic pesticides and herbicides. Most of us are injecting this stuff for life, so minimizing toxins makes sense to me.
  • Use compounded anastrozole instead of splitting pills. Although it is significantly more expensive, it is also significantly more accurate. Until I found the right dose, I was miserable on anastrozole. Sometimes less is better. Fortunatly I have an excellent doctor who has been willing to give me a new script weekly until I got the correct dose right. With respect to anastrozole dosing, use your morning erection as a guide (can be as accurate as a blood test, but a lot less expensive). Too much or too little will kill your morning erection.  ;) Once you have it dialed in that way, confirm with a blood test (I use the ultrasensitive "Fractionated Estrogens" test - http://goo.gl/6PXtLp)
Thanks for listening. You're feedback and questions are welcome.

Badly in need of editing....0.1cc, 0.07cc, 0.1mg...none of that is a dosage, or helpful.

the guys like to see milligrams when it comes to your testosterone. And the reason for that is that there are two different concentrations of testosterone sold in the pharmacies so it can be a little ambiguous when you give the volume. No worries but that's what he's basically asking about I believe.

But how are you feeling? Is the strategy and protocol working for you?

But how are you feeling? Is the strategy and protocol working for you?
By reducing my daily dose to 0.06 cc (12 mg), I've been able to get off the anastrozole altogether, but still feel just as good as I did on 14 mg per day. Anastrozole consistently raised my blood pressure, so I'm better off now. However, I haven't been tested since adjusting my dose, so I'll post those results in the future.

One caveat is I use Nipro NPMJD01TZ syringes. The rubber tip of the syringe's plunger is not flat, but slopes up to a peak. From the side, it looks like a triangle. I align the the peak of the plunger with the measuring line (so I can see the line touching, but showing just above the peak of the plunger). According to my pharmacist, I should be aligning the middle of the triangle (halfway between the lowest point and the peak) to the measuring line. Because the rubber plunger tip and the measuring line are both black, there is no way I can do this accurately. It is much easier for me to measure at the peak. So, according to the pharmacist, I'm getting slightly more medication that what I'm describing here. So, my actual dose is probably closer to 13 mg daily.

I've tried other syringes, but other than the difficulty with accurate measurement, I like these syringes best. They are very inexpensive ($121.25 per 1,000 or $13.30 per 100) and clean. I've purchased name-brand syringes that had tiny, visible rubber particles in the medication after the draw. As long as I'm consistent, the doseage isn't a problem for me; but I wanted you to know this because my dose is probably slightly higher than what is posted here.

Well, I think you are our first daily injector.  I know that diabetics inject subQ daily and there seems to be no concern about the holes, so this is an interesting approach to getting nice smooth levels.

And so you feel better doing this or did you do it mostly to control blood pressure?

I inject daily because I do feel better (much better) doing it this way. I get absolutely no bloating ever. With weekly injections I would bloat every time. Although I never bloated when injecting every other day, I still noticed that I didn't feel good as I got close to my next injection. In other words, I could sense the highs and lows. With daily injections, I never feel any highs or lows. However, at 12 mg per day, the few hours before my next injection, my erections are not as strong.

Regarding the injection holes, I've had no problem with that. I rotate between my belly, outside of my thighs (saddlebag areas), and my love handle areas. In each area, I rotate the spots. I do occasionally bruise, but I've gotten pretty good about picking the spots. When you inject this frequently, you become very good at it (and efficient). I did start getting a rash from cleaning the area with an alcohol swab, so now I skip the swab, which increases efficiency. Some may consider this risky, but I have very good personal hygiene, I've never gotten an infection, and I've been doing this for a while. I do swab the top of the vial.

It's getting hard for me to inject in the abs and I don't really have much in the way of "love handles."  Some guys - I think Sam - did the gluts.  Have you tried there?

Haha, I have plenty of fat, so I don't have a problem with the areas I use. I wish being too lean were my problem.  :-[ I haven't tried my glutes -- might be kind of awkward to reach around there.
