DHEA Helping Mood and Libido
« on: January 12, 2015, 04:20:22 am »
[SPLIT FROM HERE: http://www.peaktestosterone.com/forum/index.php?topic=6088.15.]

I started on 50mg DHEA daily about a week ago and I think it's helped my mood and libido considerably. I am on HCG mono and my T levels look great, but I needed some additional help. My DHEA was in the low 200s so I thought I'd give it a try and I can say I'm actually thinking it's working.

More soon, but it's a good start. Your DHEA is incredibly low, so you may benefit from this supplement as well. I use DHEA from Life Extension Foundation.

Helix, you use DHEA pills or DHEA cream?

I've had bad reactions/E2 spikes (likely) from as little as 25mg Oral DHEA. I'm now taking 12-13mg and doing just fine. I had one test recently that had me marked as "low" @ 160(?). I don't know if I feel better on this its certainly not negative as before. Moody, irritable, aggressive, depressed...I'm very wary of DHEA now. I was considering a transdermal or subligual to try.

Pills from Life Extension. 50mg/day. I am having T/FT/E2 Sensitive pulled today after a about a week and a half of use. I take 1000ius HCG EOD and today is my trough day, so it'll be interesting to see where the numbers fall. I do not take Arimidex.

I'll post them here as soon as they come back.

One thing about me I'll footnote here because I think it's important. My issues are caused by a non-functioning pituitary tumor, which has greatly reduced my pituitary function to the extent that all downstream hormones are not optimal. Nothing (other that testosterone) was out of range low, but all very, very close to bottom limit. And I'm 29 in otherwise great health, so I was feeling pretty terrible.

All that to say my DHEA supplementation may be working well because I am actually deficient. We'll see after these labs and over time.

fyi:

This is a beefy dose.  I don't see a lot of cautions and risk with DHEA - of course it hasn't been studied that much long term though - but arrhythmia and possible neuronal issues with high dosages has surfaced.  Ray Saheliam recommends 5 mg I believe.  Check out my commentary here if int'd:
