May have finally found a good dosage of Clomid
« on: January 30, 2015, 03:41:32 am »
Hey guys,

I have been taking 12.5mg of clomid every single day for about 6 weeks. Just went to the doc, and here are the blood results:

1/26/15

SHBG - 29 nmol/L (range 11 - 80)
Testoster Tot/R - 762 ng/dL (range 300 - 1080)
Testoster Free - 164 pg/mL (range 47 - 244)
Testoster Free - 2.2% (range 1.6% - 2.9%)
Estradiol - 43 pg/mL (range 12 - 41)

LH - 9.8 mIU/mL (range 1.5 - 9.3)
FSH - 2.8 mIU/mL (range 1.4 - 18.1)

Prolactin - 4 ng/mL (range 2.1 - 17.7)

Vitamin D - 61 ng/mL (range 30 - 100)

T, SHBG, and LH all look good. Very happy that SHBG isn't through the roof. I'm not super happy about the Estradiol but maybe that's the cost of business.

Vitamin D levels up to 61 which I am very happy about! They were around 38 before. I have been taking 10,000 IU supplements every day so that's why.

Ok, that's all great. But how do I feel?

I actually feel really good. I have been documenting my morning woods, as well as sexual activity. Morning wood most days for the past 3 weeks, pretty stiff erections, and frequent sex. I wouldn't say I'm walking around with a boner all the time but I am horny much more often and I have no problems getting hard. I'll continue this protocol and see what happens long term. I don't know if this is the safest protocol with the high Estradiol, but who knows? I'd be curious to hear what you guys think.

Thanks for all the help guys! Things are looking better for the time being.

JonnyV,

I'm curious about how long you've been taking the 10,000 IU of Vitamin D?

I had my Vit D level checked August 2014 and it was 31...a year before that it was 19

I've been taking 10,000 IU Vit D the last 2-3 weeks. I've been considering bumping it to >20,000 IU.

I'm simply curious to see how long it took you taking the 10,000 IU to go from 38 to 61?

Thanks!

Also regarding your use of the Clomid- you mention you've seen an improvement in some of your sexual symptoms. I'm curious if boosting your free and Total T levels to a more optimum range if you've noticed an improvement in any other symptoms- like mood, energy levels, muscle gains, etc?

I'm only asking because I'm planning on taking Clomid or HCG in the near future.

Hey Yub yub,

It took me about 3 months of taking 10,000 IU every day to get it up to 61.

20,000 IU a day is probably safe. I heard 50,000 IU is the limit anyone should take per day. I have also heard people should take 1,000 IU for every 25lbs of weight.

If I were you I would do 10,000 IU a day for a few months and get retested. Just my opinion.

I feel fantastic as far as energy, mood, weight loss, and strength has been about the same. Unfortunately, I have started a few other supplements and a new diet. I am doing the Bulletproof Diet and I truly think it has worked wonders on me. I have lots of energy and mood has been fantastic.

So it's hard to say its just clomid, but I do think the amount I'm taking now in conjunction with my other changes have made things pretty good. I hope that helps.

Great results JonnyV. I always think, it makes no sense not to try this first before going full trt. Not everyone feels "crappy" on clomid, especially when it's low dose.  Have you considered trying even less,  as in maybe every other day?   You might find that testosterone level stays the same,  but the e2 may drop.  Minimum effective dose is always the way to go.

I forgot to mention - for the last 4 weeks, I've also been taking Cod liver oil, Arginine/Ornithine, Zinc, and Vitamin C as well. I thought I might as well completely disclose everything.

I actually tried 12.5mg on MWF, and my total T was up to 504 (up from around 390) but I felt like crap. My penis wasn't really working lol. It was even hard to masturbate. 25mg ED made my total T 948 (!) but my E2 was 51. I felt a bit better on that protocol but not even close to how I've felt over the last 3 weeks.

So you've pretty much fine tuned it.  Good job on the thorough reporting too!

Thanks for the update JonnyV, glad things are going well for you.  I'm currently using a protocol of 25mg Clomid twice a week and going for a blood test this week to see how things are (four weeks since I started).  It has given some improvements (morning wood, not much change on my focus or libido).
33 yrs

pre-treatment Nov '14
Total T 289 ng/dL (250-1100)

Clomid @ 25mg, twice a week, Feb '15
Total T 662 ng/dL (250-1100)
E2 (sensitive) 31 pg/mL (<29)

Clomid @ 25mg every day, Mar '15
Total T 991 ng/dL (250-827)
E2 (non-sensitive) 60 pg/mL (<39)

Test-Cyp @ 100mg/week, Jun '15, trough values
Total T 302 ng/dL (250-1100)
E2 (non-sensitive) 22 pg/mL (<39)

No problem. Yeah like I said before, I tried 25mg ED and 12.5mg EOD before doing 12.5mg ED, and they all were different. So I would encourage not to lose hope if you don't get the results you want and keep trying new dosages.

Exactly.  It's only the same as taking testosterone - take the wrong dose and you'll not enjoy the results.  Inject two grams a week and you'll have side effects.  Inject 20mg a week and you'll soon feel much worse than before.  Someone doing either of those due to lack of knowledge will be preaching "trt makes you feel awful". But it's fairly apparent that done correctly its the opposite.  So with clomid,  like trt, it's all in the dose.
