New PLAC Test Helps Predict Heart Disease
« on: March 05, 2015, 03:34:23 pm »
Hi Peak-

Have not seen it mentioned in the forum but was interested to see if you have looked at the new PLAC Test -

It is getting a ton of media play and apparently is an inexpensive blood serum test-

Very interesting sifter.  Know anything else about it?
THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE BOOK ON TRT/TESTOSTERONE:

If you are on medications or have a medical condition, always check with your doctor first before making any lifestyle changes or taking new supplements.  And low testosterone is a medical condition.

FDA announcement - recent

LEF folks on board from 2008 when testing was just starting

Now mainstream enough for Dr Oz to pitch it- video  (but I'm not an OZ fanboy)

Noticed that Quest is offering as a standard assay-

Wondering if is a new inexpensive tool to evaluate the state of our arteries-

I couldn't help myslef and peaked at the LEF article.  Notice this deals with endothelial dysfunction, i.e. it could improve erections:

"PLACŪ Test Identifies Atherosclerotic Plaques Ready to Rupture
The PLACŪ test measures blood levels of an enzyme called lipoprotein phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2). The Lp-PLA2 enzyme unleashes a chain of harmful events culminating in endothelial dysfunction, which is a pathological abnormality in the blood vessel wall that sets the stage for atherosclerosis, plaque accumulation, and rupture.6

An elevated level of Lp-PLA2 may signal that an arterial plaque is susceptible to rupture, which could cause a clot to break loose, precipitating a heart attack or stroke"
