Got appointment with urologist, back to 50mg clomid
« on: November 13, 2012, 12:42:43 am »
Hi,

I am liking my gp pretty well now.  He did not get me into the urologist this week, but I will get there soon.  Yesterday I felt terrible even after my 25mg of clomid.  I decided to try taking another 25mg and I felt much better after only 30 minutes.  So today I called the gp to ask if I could take 50mg.  I wasn't going to call that awful endocrinologist.  The gp's nurse called back and asked what I wanted.  I told her that I feel better on 50mg and can I take that.  The nurse told me I should take 50mg if I felt better.  So apparently the gp will keep me in clomid even at 50mg.  This seems safe according to some of the research I read.  Also, the endo gave me enough rx for 60 days at 50mg, not sure why she was so generous.  So I have been very up and down emotionally, but better overall.  Hopefully 50mg will do the trick until I get in with the urologist, probably in December.

25 and 50 are both common from what I've seen...

Let us know how it goes.  Clomid can really effect mood/the brain - unfortunately, negatively when it does...

Thanks for the input,

Maybe that is why my mood has been all over the place.  I was/am hoping that 25mg was just not enough to keep my T high enough.  I perhaps could convince my gp to put me on testosterone, but I think he would rather leave that up to the urologist.  I could have gotten in with the urologist on 11/30, but I'll be out of town for work.  My current appointment is 12/7, but I may have to postpone that as well because of work.  Maybe I will ask to get on the cancelation list.

The problem right now is that I have a number of big stressors all working at the same time.  It has gotten too confusing to tell what is messing with my mood.  I have never been so stressed out in my life.  Sorry to be so negative, but the smallest of tasks has become overwhelming.  I'm just trying to tread water now, my world seems to be crashing around me.

I can't give up though, I have too many people depending on me.  I will focus my little energy on what really matters the most.  Less important things will have to wait.  Hopefully the clomid will continue to work and work better.  If not, I'll call the gp to work something else out.  There are certainly glimmers of hope though.  On Friday I really felt good at work.  I felt like I was accomplishing something, and I felt positive.  I even started thinking about the future and things I would like to do.

I will keep on striving...

Hang in there!  I know it's a lot of pressure, but stop and think about the obvious:  the most important thing financially by far is for you to keep your mental and physical health.  You can pull yourself out of the nastiest of financial situations, which I'm not saying is your situation, in a matter of a few years if you work hard.

My point is that you can turn almost any life situation around in a few years:  toxic relationships, bad financial situations, debt reduction, career advancement, etc.  But you can only do it with good health and energy!

So relax.  Even if your whole world melts down out of control, you can pull yourself out in a few years.  Seriously.  Just relax, work hard and do your best.  You can't do any more that that anyway.  If things go south, they just do.  Again, if you can keep from killing yourself off with anxiety and depression, you'll rise out of the issues and be doing great in no time.  But keep yourself healthy and mentally and cognitively fit!

And not to sound like a broken record, but do PMR and (non-religious secular) meditation during these high stress times.  It is critical:

One last thing:  watch out at 50 mg.  It could make your mood worse.  I know you are thinking that it will raise T more and thus help, but that is far from a give with Clomid.  Remember:  estrogen in the brain is darn near as important as testosterone in the brain.

I read the following quote from a sea captain in a newspaper article yesterday. It kind of struck me as just basic good advise on life in general and what you are dealt. Everybody will go through some ups and downs during your lifetime, it's to be expected. It's how you deal with it that is defining.

"If Iíve learned one thing in life: Itís that life is a series of ups and downs, and you just have to play the hand youíve been dealt and forge ahead."

there is this line of thinking that less *can* be more in reference to Clomid - ie less might bring your T even higher, and you are lessening the other effects of clomid that some men may not like.... there is another forum that lives by this 12.5mg EOD mantra...

But everyone is different...so get your dosage dialed in - or - if clomid doesn't seem to be working for you, look to something else like HCG.

i think i'm going to move from 25mg ED, to 25mg EOD, and see how things are. I'd hazard to guess i won't feel any difference, but who knows.

Wow, thanks for all the encouraging words, and the advice.  Now I am starting to think I should take 25mg clomid in the morning, and wait to see how I feel.  Then I can take another 25mg later in the day if need be.  If I feel ok, I can stick with just the 25mg for that day.  I am sort of "on my own" while I wait to get in with the urologist.  Thanks for all the help.

I'm still experimenting a little.  I tried taking just 25mg (in the afternoon) yesterday.  I did not feel as good as I have on 50mg so far.  I took 25mg this morning, still felt a little off, and took 25mg more later.  So far I feel much improved again.  We'll see how the rest of the day goes now.

By the way, I went to counseling with my wife last night and it seemed to go well.  Also, I am thinking about putting in for overtime at work to help in the financial department.  I wouldn't have even considered overtime even say a week ago.  I'm feeling right now that maybe I can do it though.  My job requires a lot of mental work and is quite draining after 8 or 9 hours.  I work the hardest that I am able, while I am here.  My "hardest" seems to be improving as well.  Hope is alive today!

Glad to hear it.

NOTE:  I can't really encourage anyone to "go off the beaten path" as far as pharmceuticals are concerned.
