Fortesta Did Not Work. Injections Do.
« on: June 01, 2015, 04:34:53 pm »
Having been on TRT for the last 5 years, I have gone from gels, to shots, to gels.....and now back to shots.

Last draw on gels (4 pumps Fortesta) showed this:

Total Test 1020 (250-1100)
Free Test 232 (35-155) flagged HIGH
Test binding Globulin 28 (10-50)
estradiol (non sensitive, made a mistake) <10 (11-44)
DHT 90  (16-79)

This low e2 with high free and total T confused me and Peak too.  I realized the mistake I made, I used my forearms to apply the gel, then had a draw after.  Yes I washed my arm, but this isn't enough as it is still below the skin level where the needle went.  So my readings on gels were all false due to this.

Last Saturday I didn't use my left forearm so I could draw from it, the results are dramatically different.

Total T - 400 (250-1100)
Free T - 83 (35-155)
e2 ultra sens   <2  (<29)  WOW
DHT  59   (16-79)

Holy crap, not good at all.  I went back to shots the day after this draw and already feel so much better, I hope EQ is still good on shots.  New protocol:

T Cyp IM 40mg M and F
Waiting on HCG
no AI

What is odd about the above is that high DHT reading.  But, anyway, glad you're feeling better and, yes, often the big name topicals just aren't absorbed.

Btw, I thought that Fortesta was usually applied to the thighs?  I don't think that would have changed things as far as absorption much but just curious?

I think that since DHT is converted in the skin, it doesn't rely on how much testosterone is in the blood (unlike e2 which does, because it is converted thought other means).   The gel has to pass through the skin, so it makes sense that the DHT conversion would happen regardless of the rest of the levels.  I dunno if how I'm saying it makes sense.....
