Affordable Cialis?
« on: September 14, 2015, 05:30:51 pm »
My doctor prescribed some Cialis and asked me to try. "Obviously" the insurance company doesn't cover it but my goodness they are EXPENSIVE: for 6x 20mg pills, it's $240.

Is there any alternative to this?

I get mine covered via insurance.  However, it comes thru mail order and there was a delay in getting the Rx into the mail order place, shipping, etc.  So I ran over to Walgreen's to pick up one with cash.  To my shock the price went from $30 to $59!!  I asked the pharm tech about it, and she said it was the manufacturer (Lilly).  So they doubled the price of a med that had been out already for years!

It's nice to know they got your back, eh?

I get mine from a compounding pharmacy for a fraction of the price of the name brand.

Cialis goes generic in 2017, and Viagra sooner.  Prices should drop then.

For Viagra, your doc (if willing) can write a prescription for Revatio.   It is the same drug as Viagra, just marketed for a different condition and no longer under patent.   So you can get it generic for a fraction of the price.

In a pinch, sildenafil citrate is available pretty inexpensively as a "research chemical".

Interestingly, they've filed to take Cialis over the counter once that patents expire.  No idea if they will get it approved -- I'm doubtful -- but they are at least trying to get that through.

8 pills for me at CVS is $410. That's the last time I get it filled at CVS. I'll try the Goodrx thing next time.

Actually if you look at GoodRx, CVS are the 3rd cheapest - and the two that are cheaper don't have any stores in my area!

Interestingly, they've filed to take Cialis over the counter once that patents expire.  No idea if they will get it approved -- I'm doubtful -- but they are at least trying to get that through.

I read that somewhere too - but followed by a statement that most drugs (of any kind) coming off patent are at least attempted to get on to the OTC list. More profit y'see, since we're more likely to buy stuff OTC than go to a doctor and get it prescribed.
Late 30s, low T, on cypionate injections, currently 60mg once every 7 days, last labs trough 600 T (350-950), 32 E2 (8-42), everything else within range. Those labs were from 100mg/E10D.

I split a question out about Cialis' patent being extended and whether or not it should go over the counter:
