Needle sizes for T-Cyp

So I just talked to my pharmacist regarding needles for T-Cyp.  My doctor last month gave me 22ga 1-1/2 long needles.  They just seem to be longer than I need.  I realize that you can't go too small in needle gauge and still be able to push or pull the stuff through the needle.  However, the 22 gauge seems reasonable as far as flow and it was drawing through a 1-1/2 inch long needle.  With this in mind, I would think if I went to a 1 inch needle I can use a 23 gauge (every bit smaller possible is a good thing).

The pharmacist mostly agreed with my thinking and ordered a box of 1 inch 23ga.  My next shot is Monday and I will try them out.  Replies from someone who has experimented with the different needles will be greatly appreciated.

This is pretty standard I believe.  1 inch is much more normal unless you're aiming for the gluts. 

CAUTION:  Always talk to your doc.  These are all ideas to discuss with your physician.

Thanks.  I would think that 1 inch can even work in the gluts too? I don't have a lot of fat on me, so reaching the muscle shouldn't need a 1-1/2 inch needle should it? 

So far I have only used the 1-1/2 incher in my gluts but I only have the wife insert to about 1 inch depth.

If you don't have a lot of fat, 1" is perfect. I would use a bigger needle ( I use 18 gauge ) to draw it with and a 25 gauge for the shot. 25 gauge works great and the smaller the dia. the better as far as muscle trauma. It just goes slower; which is a good thing. Pushing it in quickly is not good for the muscle tissue.

There are some guys that use 27 gauge... I haven't tried that yet.
